Post Re: SICKNOTES [updated 25 JAN 09]
some updates on anderson, also especially for dila..

SLOW PROGRESS FOR ANDERSON

Manchester United midfielder Anderson is making steady progress in recovering from his ankle injury but a date is still to be pencilled in for his first-team return.

The Brazilian had to be carried off the field after the final whistle of the Carling Cup semi-final against Derby last month and, although X-rays confirmed there was no break, he did suffer ligament damage that has prevented him from training.

He is continuing rehabilitation work in the gym but seems unlikely to be involved in either leg of the Champions League encounter with Inter Milan.

"Anderson is coming along slowly," confirmed assistant manager Mike Phelan.

"He is working with the medical team at the moment and will start on the conditioning side next week.

"He is making the progress that we expect him to make, it is just a question of how quickly that comes on once he gets out onto the training pitch.

"We haven't put a timescale on it because he is working more inside than out. Once we get him onto the grass we will find out how long."

***************

you gonna have to wait a bit more dila..

Injury list:

Rio Ferdinand
United initially thought his injury was calf-related but they have now believe it may be linked to a previous back problem – meaning his return could be as late as February.

Jonny Evans
Sidelined with a calf strain, expected to return in January.

Wes Brown
Limped off during 4-0 defeat of West Ham, out of tonight's game but may return for the weekend.

John O'Shea
Strained thigh muscle suffered playing in Ireland's 1-1 draw with France, set to return in January.

Nemanja Vidic

Still hasn't recovered from the virus that kept him out of Saturday's 4-0 win at West Ham.

Gary Neville
Went off with groin strain after 34 minutes against West Ham at the weekend. Return date to be confirmed.

Edwin Van Der Sar

Was expected to return against West Ham after missing previous three games with a knee injury. Trained last week so looks set to return shortly.

Fabio Da Silva
Out of action due to a groin strain. Should be fit for the Aston Villa game at the weekend.

Rafael da Silva
Hasn't featured for United since playing in Besiktas on 27 November, currently out with shoulder problem.

Owen Hargreaves
Still out with a perennial knee injury, which limited the England midfielder to just 25 appearances for United since joining in May 2007, but has been in training and hopes to make comeback before the end of the year.

Wayne Rooney
Suffered a hamstring injury against West Ham on Saturday, doubtful for Villa match at the weekend.

Dimitar Berbatov
Picked up knee problem in match at Upton Park, unlikey to feature at the weekend.

Federico Macheda

Out with slight hamstring injury.

Post Re: SICKNOTES
Four to return against Villa

Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to call on the services of four first-team regulars for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with Aston Villa as the Reds' injury crisis begins to ease.

Wayne Rooney (hamstring), Dimitar Berbatov (knee), Nemanja Vidic (flu) and the rested Ryan Giggs all missed the trip to Wolfsburg, but are expected to return to action against Martin O'Neill's side at Old Trafford.

The boss may still be forced to field another makeshift back four, but with some of his big guns back in attack he's confident in his side's ability to cope against Villa.

"We expect Vidic to be ready for Saturday. Ryan is fit and I also think Rooney and Berbatov ) will both be okay," said Sir Alex, following Tuesday's win in Germany.

"If I have that availability I am okay and I’ll be happy enough because I can play a back four of Fletcher, Carrick, Vidic and Evra."

The Reds are currently just two points behind leaders Chelsea, after a good run in the league which has yielded three straight wins with 11 goals scored and just one conceded.

"Our league form is very good. We’ve scored two fours away from home in the last two games which is great," added Sir Alex.

"We have a very difficult game on Saturday against Villa, they are always very hard to play against, but our form is good and you want that going into any game. Hopefully we can keep it going."
