FEBIAN BRANDY

Name: Febian Brandy
Date of birth: 04 February 1989
Nationality: English
Position: Striker

Febian Brandy may only be small but he is capable of making a big impact with his speed and skill.

Preferring to drop deep to receive the ball, Brandy is a tricky player when running at defenders.

A broken leg hindered the start of his 2005/06 campaign and further injuries throughout the season meant he was limited to only a handful of Reserve outings and 11 appearances for the U18s, scoring one goal.

Manchester born and raised, Febian was first spotted playing for his local team, West End Boys, at the age of nine. After being invited down to training at the Cliff,

United’s old training headquarters, the striker has been at the club ever since.

He has progressed to regular inclusion in the Reserves throughout the 2006/07 season, scoring his first second string goal with a scorching strike against Bolton Wanderers in October 2006.

FRAIZER CAMPBELL [ON LOAN]

Name: Fraizer Campbell
Date of birth: 13 September 1987
Nationality: English
Position: Striker

Huddersfield-born Fraizer Campbell is an agile striker with pace and determination, who possesses the ability to poach goals and create them himself through his speed and skill.

Campbell was top scorer for the Academy Under-18s as a first year scholar in 2004/05, scoring 14 goals in 22 starts as the Reds finished second in the Premier Academy League Group C. His performances at youth level led to him being called up to the Reserves, where he played five games and scored once.

The following season he scored nine goals in 14 starts for the Academy, but began to make an impact on the Reserves,

reaching the same total as his academy haul while United’s second-string marched to a Premier Reserve League, Play-off shield and Manchester Senior Cup treble.

Handed squad number 51 in November 2005, he was an unused substitute in United’s 0-0 FA Cup third round stalemate with Burton Albion in January 2006. He signed professional forms two months later, on 22 March, and was a second-half substitute in Roy Keane’s testimonial match against Celtic at Old Trafford in May 2006.

Fraizer embarked on a loan move to Royal Antwerp at the start of the 2006/07 season, and quickly became a favourite with the fans, who nicknamed him "Super Campbell". His goalscoring exploits in Belgium underlined his rapid development and in August 2007 his potential was further acknowledged by Sir Alex Ferguson when he made his competitive United debut as a substitute in the Manchester derby at Eastlands.

Another successful loan spell followed, this time at Hull City where his talents earned him a first call-up for England Under 21s in March 2008. He scored 15 goals in 32 starts during his time with the Tigers and in May 2008 helped them secure promotion to English football's top flight following a play-off victory over

Bristol City.

On his return to Old Trafford, ahead of the start of the 2008/09 season, Campbell did his first team chances no harm with two goals in six games during the Reds' pre-season campaign. He was handed his first ever Premier League start in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle in August 2008 and was unlucky not to find the net with a first-half diving header.

On 1 September 2008 it was announced that Campbell would spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Tottenham as part of the deal that brought Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day.

Craig Cathcart

Name: Craig Cathcart
Date of birth: 06 February 1989
Nationality: Northern Ireland
Position: Defender

Tall, good in the air and strong in the tackle, Craig Cathcart is a prototypical centre-half, but he also possesses the ability and confidence to bring the ball out of defence.

The Belfast-born defender, capped by Northern Ireland at youth level, was coveted by a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Rangers. He spent time at United’s School of Excellence in Belfast before rejecting all other approaches in favour of joining his boyhood club.

Cathcart was joint highest appearance-maker for the Academy Under-18s in 2005/06, before being named captain of Paul

McGuinness' side the following season.

He also managed to shoehorn in several Reserves appearances, heading his first second-string goal in a 2-1 win at Everton. Craig is held in such esteem that Sir Alex Ferguson had no qualms about promoting him to the first team squad in the thick of a defensive injury crisis.

The youngster was an unused substitute in four senior games during the 06/07 season, but injury prevented him from taking any part in the campaign's final games and also ruled him out of United's FA Youth Cup final against Liverpool.

Cathcart was loaned to Royal Antwerp at the beginning of the 2007/08 season, where he scored in his second appearance for the club. He played 13 times for the Belgians before returning to England and making seven appearances for United's Reserves.

Pre-season 2008/09 saw the defender join the Reds in South Africa for the final Vodacom Challenge match. He then embarked on another loan spell, this time with Plymouth Argyle. He's due back at United on 1 January, 2009.

Daniel Drinkwater

Name: Daniel Drinkwater
Date of birth: 05 March 1990
Nationality: English
Position: Midfielder

Danny has been at United for a long time, since he was nine or 10 and, as a local lad, he’s probably the one that lives closest to the training ground.

He has spent several years with the academy and, now a first year scholar, he has progressed well through the age groups.

Danny is comfortable playing with both feet and displays excellent passing ability. He was injured last year and so he’ll be hoping to get some games under his belt before pushing on and continue his development.

Magnus Wolff Eikrem

Name: Magnus Wolff Eikrem
Date of birth: 08 August 1990
Nationality: Norwegian
Position: Midfielder

A midfielder with good vision, Magnus is the latest addition to United's Academy family.

Magnus joins United on 8 August when he celebrates his 16th birthday. He comes with a good reputation after being spotted at Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s soccer school in Norway.

He is a very skilful player that can play anywhere across the midfield, though he is predominantly a central midfield player.

He posesses bundles of ability and the United coaching staff are hopeful his skills can flourish in England after he turned down Norwegian club Molde to try and follow

in Ole’s foot steps at Old Trafford.

Corry Evans

Name: Corry Evans
Date of birth: 30 July 1990
Nationality: Northern Irish
Position: Midfielder

A strong midfielder from Northern Ireland, Corrie is following in the foot steps of his older brother Jonny; who has been playing in United's Academy and Reserves sides for the last two years.

Coming from a good, strong football background, Corrie will be looking to bounce back this year after he suffered an injury last season. He’ll be looking to settle into the under18s side and get a number of games under his belt.

Corrie is strong in the tackle and has the strength to hold players off.

Like James Derbyshire, he can play at the back as well as in midfield, so he is valuable for his versatility.

Daniel Galbraith

Name: Daniel Galbraith
Date of birth: 19 August 1990
Nationality: Scottish
Position: Winger

A Scottish international who joined the club on his 16th birthday, Daniel is a left-sided winger and a huge Manchester United fan.

He is a dangerous player with bags of pace and possesses the ability to run at defenders with the ball. He is dangerous in the final third as he strike the ball very well.

Daniel's hard work ethic often pays dividends, he can come deep to win possession back for the team and then likes to turn and run with the ball at opposing players.

Tom Heaton [ON LOAN]

Name: Tom HEaton
Date of birth: 15 April 1986
Nationality: English
Position: Goalkeeper

Chester-born goalkeeper Tom Heaton has been decorated at youth and Reserve level for United, but is yet to make his first team bow.

An excellent shot stopper and always in full command of his penalty area, Tom is a reliable solid goalkeeper who has always shown great promise.

Heaton is also an excellent outfield player, having played as a goalkeeper and midfielder during his time at Wrexham before signing professionally at Old Trafford on 8 July 2002. Tom quickly set about ascending through the club's ranks - notching 22 appearances for Francisco Filho's Under-17s side as they came second in

their league.

Tom's debut season was capped by an FA Youth Cup winner's medal, although he was an unused substitute throughout the entire campaign with Luke Steele preferred in goal.

The 2003/04 season brought a similar climax, with Heaton on the bench as United romped to the Manchester Senior Cup final against Manchester City. Although he didn't appear in the win at Old Trafford, Tom had still made great progress throughout the season, notching 14 Under-19s appearances and eight Reserve starts.

Heaton stepped off the periphery of the second string during the 2004/05 season, however, and was first choice goalkeeper as Ricky Sbragia's side won the Quadruple. The demands of two leagues, two cup competitions and a play-off were huge, and Heaton made 36 appearances as United clinched everything except the Manchester Senior Cup.

The 2005/06 season saw Tom's progress somewhat impeded as loan spells at Swindon and Antwerp failed to yield the desired amount of action, and the 2006/07 campaign saw him back as the Reserves' first choice goalkeeper.

Heaton continued to perform solidly throughout the season as Brian McClair and Jim Ryan's side narrowly missed

out on a third successive FAPRL North title and were beaten in the final of the Manchester Senior Cup.

There was also the bonus of several unexpected brushes with first team involvement. Injuries to Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak saw Tom promoted to the senior substitute bench on eight occasions, although he was never called into action.

The position of young goalkeeper is one that requires much patience, a virtue that Heaton continues to display admirably.

Matthew James

Name: Matthew James
Date of birth: 22 July 1991
Nationality: English
Position: Midfielder

Rochdale-born Matthew James is a versatile and adaptable player, capable of filling in at the back – which he did at the start of the 2007/08 campaign – even though his preferred position is in midfield.

“He’s primarily a midfielder but he can also play in defence if we need him to,” says United’s Under-18s boss Paul McGuinness.

“He’s a very good all-round footballer with good technique. He can pass short and long and he’s good in the air. His versatility is a real asset to the team.”

Lee Martin

Name: Lee MArtin
Date of birth: 09 Februaryl 1987
Nationality: English
Position: Winger

Lightning fast, driven and full of boundless energy, Martin is an absolute nightmare for opposition defenders.

Coveted by many Premiership clubs, Lee signed for United in December 2003. His first full season at Old Trafford brought six Reserve goals as he was quickly fast-tracked from the Under-18s.

An integral part of Ricky Sbragia's Quadruple-winning side in 2004/05, Martin's fine form continued into the 2005/06 season.

In January 2006 Lee was one of five United youngsters sent out on loan to Royal Antwerp, where he quickly caught the eye with his energetic

performances.

Although the Belgians’ bid for promotion ultimately failed, it wasn’t for lack of trying on the young winger’s part, and he was named the fans' Player of the Season for his efforts.

Sadly he was unable to have a similar impact in his next loan move, at Scottish giants Rangers. The Ibrox side's poor form, together with a niggling knee injury prevented Lee making his mark on the SPL.

Upon returning to England Lee attracted the interest of a host of clubs, with Championship side Stoke taking him on loan until the end of the 2006/07 season.

Martin turned in consistently fine form with the Potters, although Tony Pulis' side ultimately failed to reach the playoffs. Buoyed by the experience, Lee returned to Carrington a far more experienced player.

SAM HEWSON

Date of birth: November 28,1988
Nationality: English

Hailing from Bolton, Sam Hewson was spotted by United scouts at the age of 8 while playing for his local team AFC Bolton. He was invited for trials a year later and impressed the United coaches enough to earn himself a place in Man Utd's Academy.

He made his debut for the U-18s in 2004, making 24 appearances and scoring 6 goals, which led to him being called up regularly to Man Utd's Reserves' team.

Hewson is a box-to-box midfielder, who has the ability to break up the opposition's attacking play and start attacks with his creativity, as well as ability to push forward with the ball.

Last season proved to be a fruitful season for Sam, as his performances earned him a nomination for the Reserves Player of the Year, as well as a place in Sir Alex Ferguson's Premier League squad, where he was handed the number 33 shirt.

i've seen this lad play live..
