Bullard looks set to join Tigers

Thu 22 Jan, 06:30 PM

Hull have reportedly agreed a £5million fee with Premier League rivals Fulham for the transfer of midfielder Jimmy Bullard. The Tigers are believed to have lodged an offer for Bullard, who has found himself part of Fabio Capello's England squad over the past season.

However, Fulham are not keen to offer Bullard fresh terms as he has 18 months remaining on his current deal.

A number of clubs have been alerted to Bullard's situation and earlier this month Bolton failed with a bid.

Tottenham, Middlesbrough and Sunderland have also been strongly linked, but now Phil Brown looks to have made his move and he will be looking to seal a quick deal.

It remains to be seen if The Tigers can persuade the 30-year-old former Wigan star to move to The KC Stadium.

Hull City To Move In For Quinton Fortune – Report

Quinton Fortune could make Hull City his next destination in a career that continues to change club on a regular basis.

The South African has been something of a nomad in recent years, turning out for a variety of clubs since leaving Manchester United, including Bolton Wanderers, Sunderland, Brescia and current side AFC Tubize.

A move away from the Belgian club is likely, as Tubize were relegated last year and Fortune has since been invited to pre-season training with Ipswich Town.

Fortune's impending destination is the KC Stadium as Phil Brown looks to add depth to his Hull City squad before next season. The 32-year-old midfielder is capable of playing in a number of positions and this versatility, coupled with Fortune's Premier League experience, could be invaluable next term.

The move for Fortune is completely out of left field because Hull appear to be looking at more established players to bolster their squad. Fraizer Campbell's move should be completed in the near future, and Brown is also looking to raid Newcastle United for Kevin Nolan and the out-of-contract Michael Owen.

Hull City manager Phil Brown to offer Mark Viduka swift return to Premier League

The Australian forward has been giving consideration to hanging up his boots for good this summer but Brown believes his experience and talent, despite concerns over fitness, would be of huge benefit to his squad.

The 33-year-old is likely to be offered a pay-as-you-play arrangement which would insure Hull against liability for his wages should he spend most of the next season, as he did the last, in the treatment room.

Brown is in talks with the former Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Celtic striker as he tries to convince Viduka to play on, according to a report in the Sun.

The Hull manager has grown frustrated in his search for a fresh forward with Premier League experience and has only turned to Viduka after failing to land a series of high profile figures.

Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Daryl Murphy have all elected to go elsewhere despite overtures from Hull.

Meanwhile, Brown has also been warned not to expect to be able to sign Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley on the cheap.

The club tabled a £4 million offer for the highly regarded Welsh international, 22, after attending Cardiff’s first match at the new 27,000 all-seater Cardiff City Stadium against Celtic.

Brown is also interested in Ledley’s team-mate Ross McCormack but refuses to meet Cardiff’s asking price of £10 million.

Cardiff manager Dave Jones said: “I saw Phil Brown at our game against Celtic, but I have no problem with that because he knows the price we are asking for Joe.

“And my chairman has already made it perfectly clear – if the price is right then Joe will go.”
